Q1) Frequency counter in SW102 Meter show frequency less than it's actual? A1) Please adjust the Time Base in Menu 3 Q2) How to change the connector SO239 in SW102 Meter to N type ? A2) Please add a PL259 to N female RF ADAPTOR (Item Code: S052) Q3) Sometimes has dark screen, need to power on and off again A3) The flat cable maybe loose Q4) Has sound when shake the device A4) Screw inside maybe loose Q5) No menu 7 A5) SW102 meter in V3.7, there is no menu 7 Q6) What is the different between New and Old version of SW-102 SWR Meter ? A6) New Version of SW102 can check the Power Output more accurate and device can adjust the Power Watt mode automatically Q7) Power Watt below 0.6W , frequency counter result is not correct in SW102 Meter A7) For version below 4.3V, the Measurable power range: 1 - 120W(+-0.5%) Q8) Why the result is not same every time A8) Here is the correct using method of the SW102 SWR Power Meter. 1) When testing, the Antenna must be in vertical 2) There must not have object, metal reflecting If you want the result in same, then you should use dummy load for testing Q9) Can SW102 measure DMR radio? A9) SW102 is not for DMR Digital Radio, but SW102D can measure Digital Radio Q10) Why SWR result is different between SWR Meter and Antenna Analayzer A10) The SWR Meter is an inline device that relies on radio or external signal sources to input radio frequency, and then measures the ratio of forward power to reflected power in real time. The Antenna Analyzer, on the other hand, comes with its own low-power frequency sweep signal source and measures parameters such as SWR, complex impedance, and reflection loss at multiple frequencies at once. Since the Analyzer is usually tested on the bench, it does not necessarily reflect the state of the transmission line in actual operation Q11) I bought the SW-102S in August 2023 and now want to purchase the SW-102N. However, the product description on the Hong Kong website shows that the Efficiency % display has been removed. Does the current version still have this display? A11) The current SW102 version is V2.7. What are the differences between this and the August 2023 version? <---- Current Efficiency % Q12) Is a replacement battery available. Ours wont keep a charge anymore. A12) We don't sell batteries here, but you can ask the customer to search online to see if they're available elsewhere. The SW102 uses a 502540 3.7V 550mAh Polymer Li-ion Battery. Q13) Is the SW-102 suitable for VU models instead of HF models? A13) It depends on which model you have. *SW102-S/N : 125-525MHZ *SW102HF: 1.5-70MHZ Q14) I am specifically looking for this unit for GMRS base station and HT's, so 400-480mhz range (VU model), both for keeping an eye on SWR and radio equip TX output. Most of the time it would be used in passive mode, turned on only when i would routinely check output. This model, with rear antenna connections and front controls and display is perfect for my base unit cabinet design. A14) If you want to measure SWR and output power, you can use SW102, but it cannot continuously monitor Q15) Basically in SSB SW102HF shows values that are all out of whack A15) The SW102HF is not suitable for SSB operation. AM characteristics, also known as audio modulation (AM), are called amplitude modulation in Chinese. If the power is too low, speaking is required to generate power and initiate frequency detection. SSB = Single Side Band Single Side Band in Chinese. Simply put, it reduces AM by half. Our SW102HF is not suitable for SSB operation. Q16) After Multiple testing with different radio and antennas via uhf and vhf always the reading is 19.99 i already change the cable but same output… A16) To determine if there's a problem with the SWR ANT lead connecting to the antenna, or if there's a problem with the antenna itself, you can connect a dummy load to the SWR ANT position. If the reading is approximately SWR 1.0, this indicates a problem with the connection to the center of the antenna. The following issues need to be corrected: Is there a problem with the antenna connection to the walkie-talkie? 1) If an SWR reading of 10.2 is connected, you can analyze whether there's a problem with the antenna connection to the walkie-talkie. 19.99 indicates a problem, possibly an open circuit. 2) The antenna may be faulty and unsuitable for the transmitter frequency. 3) Check if the SWR TX and ANT connections are open. 4) Check if the connector is open. Q17) Is the SW-102N only compatible with products with an N connector? Can this model also be used with an SO239 connector? A17) If you want to connect with PL259, we have SW102-S model type which is SO239 Connection Q18) SW102-N Why I can't get it work on 220 MHz bands? A18) if check for the power transmission, the SWR meter mainly tests in VHF (144MHz) and UHF (430MHz) Bands. Othe frequencies may not can work about this function. But if checking SWR, it works for 125-525MHz Q19) I am specifically looking for this unit for GMRS base station and HT's, so 400-480mhz range (VU model), both for keeping an eye on SWR and radio equip TX output. Most of the time it would be used in passive mode, turned on only when i would routinely check output. This model, with rear antenna connections and front controls and display is perfect for my base unit cabinet design. A19) If you want to measure SWR and output power, you can use SW102, but it cannot monitor continuously, it only monitors once per transmission. Q20) I will try to make one custom ground plates for myself. Does it have to be a steel plate or an aluminium plate could also work? A20) A Ground Plane is a flat surface of ferrous metal (Aluminum, etc) Q21) A SW-102 with a ground plane won’t give more accurate SWR readings than a SW-33 Plus? The only difference is Tx-Transmission power (watts) reading? A21) Different antennas have different radiation patterns. Radiation may vary depending on the operating environment. The s w r data is for reference only. Q22) What the difference between SW102D and SW102? A22) SW102D can check DMR radio Q23) what is the difference between SW-102, SW-102HF and SW-102S? A23) SW-102 : N-connector, 100 - 520MHz SW102-S: SO239 connector, 100 - 520MHz SW102HF: SO239 connector, 1.5 - 70MHz Q24) I want to know exactly what connectors are on this sw-102. Are they N-type connectors or are they SO239 connectors? A24) We have two type of SW102 for selling: N-type connector and SO239 connector Q25) I have just received the Surecom SW-102HF. When I connect it to my transceiver and antenna I get really weird and spurious readings for SWR and Power. I checked the cables etc and found that the Antenna side of the meter is short-circuited. When I use a multimeter the resistance between the centre conductor and the shield conductor is zero - that doesn't seem right to me. A25) n the circuit, at low frequencies, a short circuit is normal. However, at high frequencies, it's not a short circuit. Therefore, using a multimeter to test for a short circuit is normal. The above circuit diagram can help you understand this Q26) Stopped working of my SW102.Worked at first but now display illuminates with no data.Is there a way to reset the SW-102 to resolve this issue? A26) If there is no display, press and hold the power button until it resets. Q27) With multiple radios and different antennas, VSWR always reads 19.99. Even with a 50-ohm dummy load, VSWR reads 19.99. How can I fix this? I am transmitting 6W on 446.000 with dummy load and still getting 19.99. A)27) Q28) Hello I already received the product Surecom SR 628 and connected it with my POC and UV5R. The controller is not functioning well, it sometimes work and sometimes not working - only blinking orange when the POC radio receive signal. i tried adjusting the POC volume but still the same the controller is malfunctioning, please see attached video A28) SR-628 not work for POC radio Q29) SW102 has failed after two months. Antennas tested right after purchase had SWRs in the range of 1.2 and 1.5. Retested those same antennas today and they show SWRs of 4.5-5.5 under identical conditions. In fact, all antennas show and SWR in that range. If I retest them with an analog Surecom RS-40 it reports proper SWRs. A29) Please use Dummy Load to check if the result is 1.0 ? Q30) Hello, I recently purchased your Surecom SW 102 SWR meter reader and have a question. It seems to be working however the frequency reading between the radio and reader are off by one digit as you can see in the image attached. I verified this with three radios and they are all off by +.001. Is there a way to correct this as my friends unit is dead on? A) Go to "MENU" , choose option 3 "adjust frequency" and then press "+/-" to adjust the frequency Q31) How long of a transmit is needed for the meter to accurately read VSWR and frequency? Would 0.1 second be long enough for an ~8W signal coming from a data radio or is a longer PTT needed like holding PTT for a few seconds? A31) Not more than 1 second Q32) How to replace the internal battery? A32) The outer casing needs to be disassembled with T6 screwdriver for replacement.
