The meter will give the SWR reading directly. 6 MEASURE SWR: A ratio of 1:1 is the ideal combination. Adjustments to the antenna system should be made so that the SWR is as low as possible. A SWR of 1.5 is considered satisfactory, taking into account line losses and slight mismatch. The operator is directed to numerous articles in radio magazines and books dealing with various methods of matching different types of antennas. 7 The power required for the operation of the SWR bridge depends on the frequency; about 5 watts 27 MHz or above. 8 MEASURE POWER FWD: Set the slide switch (SWR, PWR) to the POWER position and set the range slide switch (FWD, REF) to 10 watts or 100 watts position, whichever is appropriate. 9 When the TX of the transmitter is turned on, the needle of the meter deviates. Read the amount of deflection on the upper scale. If the range switch was set to the 100 watt range, the value is multiplied by 10. 10 For an accurate power reading, the SW111 should be used on circuits with SWR values up to 1.5. The meter will accurately decrease if the SWR value exceeds 1.5 11 Always turn off the meter when removing it from the circuit. NEVER disconnect the “ANT” connector during transmission.
